Shoppers in Aberdeen will soon have the chance to explore a brand-new foodhall at M&S Union Square on St Nicholas Street, following a significant refurbishment. From April 11, visitors will be greeted with a foodhall twice its original size, along with a Coffee Shop and a dedicated menswear department.

The renovation, carried out by SMD Thrudeck, presented some challenges due to restricted headroom and limited natural ventilation within the existing building. However, the SMD Thrudeck team successfully addressed these obstacles by utilizing extractor fans and ventilation equipment, ensuring a safe working environment—particularly during stud welding.

Additionally, the team managed the concrete pour, installing reinforcement mesh and loose bars before completing the slab with a Power Float finish.
