SMD Thrudeck has completed the installation of approximately 400m² of TR60+ composite floor deck as part of the £4.6 million extension to Frogston Primary School in Edinburgh.

The extension provides six new classrooms, together with additional office and breakout spaces, helping the school accommodate its growing roll of more than 500 pupils. The project also includes new external facilities and landscaping, with the extension designed to complement the existing school building.

SMD Thrudeck supplied and installed TR60+ floor deck to form an efficient structural floor solution within the new extension. The approximately 400m² installation formed an important part of the building’s structural package, providing a fast and efficient method of floor construction.

A key consideration throughout the wider project was maintaining the school’s day-to-day operation. Construction was carefully planned to minimise disruption to pupils and teaching activities, allowing the school to remain fully operational during the works.

The completed extension was delivered by Henry Brothers, with Holmes Miller as architect and Will Rudd providing structural and civil engineering services. The project was completed in time for pupils to make use of the new facilities following the summer holidays.
